PRESIDENT
Mike O'Hearn
President, Coyotes Ice, L.L.C. (Ice Den)

Mike O'Hearn is in his 14th year as president of Coyotes Ice, LLC, and the Ice Den. The Ice Den, although built to accommodate the training needs of the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes, quickly has become a community gathering place for a great majority of the Valley's families. The Ice Den experiences over 700,000 visits per year through regular programming and special events.
While the Coyotes continue to be a major focus of the Ice Den, the public aspects of the business — youth hockey, adult hockey, figure skating — have in their own right witnessed unprecedented growth under his direction.
The Ice Den currently has an amateur hockey association with more than 600 members ages 5-16, a nationally renowned figure skating association (complete with a learn-to-skate program) with more than 750 skaters ages 3-60 and an amateur adult hockey association with nearly 500 members ages 18-60.
The need to provide the Valley with a center for the country's fastest-growing participant sport has been addressed. The Ice Den quickly has established itself as the benchmark by which all other ice facilities are measured and the facility continues to evolve with the addition of a 3rd NHL-sized rink which will double as a multi-purpose, turf field in the spring and summer months. This flexibility opens the door for non-ice related leagues and programs such as indoor soccer, lacrosse and similar sports.
O'Hearn long has been involved with professional sports. A 15-year member of NHL management, he was vice president of hockey operations/facilities for the Coyotes before being named to his current post. In 1996, Mike was instrumental in the transition of the franchise from its roots in Winnipeg. He also spent six years with the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football League.

Like O’Hearn, Justin Maloof is also in his 14th year with Coyotes Ice, LLC serving as Executive Director. Maloof oversees the business operations for the Ice Den and is directly responsible for the master schedule for the Ice Den. Schedule coordination is vital to the facility, which draws over 700,000 customers annually. Time is spent with Ice Den program managers ensuring program slots are balanced and utilized effectively between the Ice Den’s in-house youth hockey, adult hockey, skating programs and curling leagues. Additional slots are booked for public skating, hockey tournaments, skating competitions, corporate events and other user groups. To round out the schedule, Maloof also coordinates practice times for the Phoenix Coyotes and visiting NHL teams who use the facility on a regular basis. Maloof also coordinates marketing, public relations, advertising and web-based initiatives for the Ice Den.
Before joining Coyotes Ice, Maloof was an original staff member of the Phoenix Coyotes Hockey Club, joining the team in the summer of ’96 (just prior to the inaugural season). As the team’s Coordinator of Fan Development, he worked two years creating and implementing the team’s hockey education programs, community grassroots initiatives and other NHL-sponsored events. Prior to joining the Coyotes, Maloof served two years as Promotions Director for the Western Hockey League’s Tacoma Rockets Hockey Club.
Maloof is married with two daughters and the family resides in North Phoenix.
