Adult Hockey Overview

Ice Den is home to the most competitive adult hockey programs in the state. The Coyotes Adult Hockey League consists of more than 600 players on 46 teams in six skill divisions participating year-round in Spring/Summer season and a Fall/Winter season.

Sanctioned by USA Hockey, the CAHL features structured league play, as well as seasonal camps and clinics. In addition the CAHL has played host to a variety of national and international hockey tournaments, including the USA Hockey Over-30 National Tournament in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2008 as well as the 2012 and 2013 Arizona Adult Hockey Championships.

Experience the Difference

All CAHL leagues and programs are played under the auspices of USA Hockey and all events are played at the Ice Den, a state-of-the-art training facility in North Scottsdale. In addition to (3) NHL-sized ice surfaces, the Ice Den also has a 12,500 sq/ft Mountainside Fitness Platinum Club.

Through regular captain and committee meetings, the league strives to provide a structure that’s conducive to fair and safe play. Each year, league staff incorporates new rules and procedures that have been adopted by the league and incorporates them into the annual CAHL Player Handbook In addition, divisional parity is also a high priority for the CAHL. While the league understands the desire for teams to form based on friendships and convenience, it also has a responsibility to make the games competitive. As a result, the CAHL staff does reserve the right to move players or whole teams into more appropriate skill levels if necessary.

All Divisions Feature:

  • One game per week (excluding traditional holiday weeks)
  • Guarantee of two playoff games
  • 80-minute game slots
  • No bodychecking
  • USA Hockey referees & scorekeepers
  • Weekly standings posted on website

Player and Team Placement Policy

In order to provide quality programs, the CAHL Staff reserves the right to place all players and teams in appropriate skill divisions. If you have any questions regarding the CAHL,  please call Becky at (480) 473-5837 or via email.

In order to place new players in the appropriate skill division, new player evaluations are held prior to the start of each season.  Captains and other evaluators will be on hand to assist in evaluating skill levels of new players and placement in open roster spots.  New players will sign-in at the evaluation and be issued a league jersey for the session but they will not register until they have been assigned to a team.  There is no charge to attend an evaluation session but you must call (480) 473-5837 to reserve your space.

League standings, statistics, rosters and league updates are posted daily and are available online via Pointstreak, the Ice Den’s fully automated scorekeeping system.

Pointstreak is a new, fully automated scorekeeping and stats system that has been recently purchased by the Ice Den. It eliminates the old paper scoresheets as scorekeepers use the Pointstreak touchscreen to track the games. In addition, the system generates pre-printed scoresheets based on the official league rosters approved by the league staff. It also serves as the on-line membership tool. CAHL members simply click on their divisional link and instantly enjoy access to team and divisional schedules, standings, team records, scoring leaders and more.
