While the Ice Den was originally built as the official home and training center for the Phoenix Coyotes Hockey Team, the facility quickly became more of a community asset, catering to thousands of amateur hockey players, figure skaters and casual users. In 2003, the team constructed the new 17,000 + seat Glendale Arena (now Jobing.com Arena) where the team now plays their home games. However, many of the Coyotes and visiting team practices are still held at the Ice Den.
