2011-2012 Metro Select Program
View A Slideshow of the teams
The CAHA Select program return for a second season! This is a great program for recreational players looking to elevate their game and play against local competition from Polar Ice facilities. CAHA Select teams are created by pooling the top house players through a tryout and evaluation format. Development Director Scott Gruber and his Select Coaches will use existing knowledge of player abilities and a 1-hr. tryout session (Oct 9) to create the Select rosters.
The goal again is to have one select team per 4 house divisions: (Mite, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam). Select teams play other select teams from Polar Ice Gilbert, Chandler and Peoria. This year, CAHA teams will play in the Ice Den's Turkey Cup as a non-league "tune-up". League games are then played "tournament style" over the MLK weekend in January at Polar Ice and Presidents Day weekend in February here at the Ice Den. These dates are chosen to avoid conflicts with scheduled house league games and practices. A Select Championship is then held at the end of March to determine division winners.
An open tryout for all four Select teams will be held on Sun, Oct 9. Cost is just $10 and the tryout schedule can be found in the attached link.
Program Cost: $499
Program Includes:
- 4 Turkey Cup games
- 8 Metro Select games (based on 4 teams per division)
- 8 shared practices
- 4 full ice practices
- Jersey/Socks
Pond Hockey is Back!
With the Ice Den's new "South Rink" open, CAHA has added some weekly Pond Hockey sessions for these of the season. These are great, informal ice sessions where players (and parents) can come out, have fun and work on their game at their own pace. Sticks and nets are on hand and there's a CAHA staff member to offer some help and organize a few games and fun activities. PARENTS MUST SIGN IN ALL Pond Hockey players at the Ice Den Admin Center prior to each session. This is a drop-in only program and as such, it requires a parent signature to play. Players withought a parent signature will NOT be allowed to participate. Full equipment is required for all youth players while helmets, shins, elbows and gloves are required for adults... Also, all players should remember to bring BOTH a white & black jersey for game play.
Cost:
$14 per youth player
$24 player & parent or sibling
Mites/Squirts are Tues evenings while Peewees/Bantams are Thur evenings. Click the link below for more info and a schedule of all Dec/Jan times

Pointstreak is a new, fully automated scorekeeping and stats system that has been recently purchased by the Ice Den. It eliminates the old paper scoresheets as scorekeepers use the Pointstreak touchscreen to track the games. In addition, the system generates pre-printed scoresheets based on the official league rosters approved by the league staff. It also serves as the on-line membership tool.
